Best New Food

Before I get into any San Francisco/Napa Valley or Jeannie and Brett wedding recaps, I’m going to need a day or two to recover.

We didn’t get home from our trip until a little after 5 a.m. last night this morning and I’m ready to crawl into bed right about now. In fact, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing after I hit publish.

But first, I have to tell you guys about one of the best new (to me) foods I have found. GOAT. CHEESE.

I’ve actually always known goat cheese was delicious, but at one of the wineries in Napa, they served us goat cheese to snack on with our wine. YUM. I knew I needed more of that stat.

So Kev and I brought a big loaf of Boudin Bakery (famous SF sourdough bread) back from the west coast (and carried it through two delayed flights…I was ready to hit someone with it by the end of our travels).

Anyways, tonight I sliced it up into baguettes and brushed each side with olive oil. They sat in the oven for 5-7 minutes, set at 350 degrees and came out perfectly crispy.

IMG_4173I mixed some goat cheese with lemon zest and WOW. What. a. snack.

Oh, and while in Napa, I slammed my phone in the trunk of our rental car and this happened. So that’s great.

  2. You should try goat cheese in salad soo yummy its my favorite ! I ususally get salad in a bag or box, add carmalized walnuts, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegar and it makes for a yummy salad and a nice side dish !

    • I had some goat cheese in a salad I got at the New Albanian Brewing Company a few weeks back and it was deeeelicious! I’ll have to try your salad recipe, too!

  3. Yum! Try some on bell peppers on the grill. It is so good! It’s become my go to side dish when we grill (but let’s be honest, I could eat them as a meal 🙂 )

    I usually use green and orange peppers, cut them into 3-4 pieces. Then spread the the goat cheese onto the peppers (I get Chevre (something like that) garlic and herbs most of the time). Lay them on a sheet of aluminum foil on the grill and let them cook until the peppers are a little brown on the bottom.

    • Now that you mention it, I think you made this for us one time! It was so delicious – I had no idea that was goat cheese! I have to make these right away now!
