I keep thinking about all the good times we had in Chicago so I couldn’t wait to write more about our trip!
But first, I’ll update you all on Miss Grace. When we picked her up from her surgery, I had tears in my eyes looking at her. Between the cone on her head and the way she was acting from anesthesia, I was one super sad doggy momma. Her eye looks SO awful, but the doctor warned us of that and said it will get better as the days go by. We see the doc for a follow-up in 10 days, so we have more than a week of the cone to go. 🙁
Her pain medicine pretty much knocks her out, so we have just been doing a lot of cuddling on the couch to make her as comfortable as possible.
Speaking of Gracie, I can’t believe I forgot to mention that we had two wonderful friends watch her this weekend while we were in Chicago! Jessica, Chris and their pup Calie entertained our girl all weekend and Gracie was pooped when we picked her up Sunday evening. Thank you all again!
Back to Chicago! After the parade, we hit the famous Lou Malnati’s for some deep-dish pizza. We also enjoyed a few beers since we were outside in gorgeous 80 degree weather all afternoon!
Can we take a second to look at how thick this pizza is? So so so so so good.
Then, they brought out this amazing dessert. It was a warm cookie, topped with ice cream and whipped cream. AMAZING. Best cookie I’ve ever had.
My dad was patiently waiting to dig in. 🙂
After dinner, we walked around the river and took in the sights. Chicago is such a gorgeous city!
We also celebrated my wonderful parent’s 24th wedding anniversary!
And the whole fam!
Such a fantastic weekend! Since I had yesterday off, today is technically my Monday, so I’m moving pretty slow this morning. I better get out the door and off to work!
