Before I get to the first cruise recap (!!), I’ll cover some news going on here.
As you know, house #1 fell through and we walked away from the house after a few rounds of negotiations. Because our temporary housing runs out next week, we have to move into an apartment and have our stuff that is in storage delivered on Jan. 4. We’re not looking forward to this apartment, because it’s not the nicest place in the world and frankly, we’re both sick and tired of moving.
We also have to have all of our stuff pulled from storage (because we’re living in a furnished apartment now) and delivered to this new apartment. Both Kev and I said we refuse to unpack the boxes because we hate packing and moving. So we’ll be living out of boxes for a few months. Haha don’t come visit us, please.
The good news, is that we looked at a new house yesterday! Two new houses actually, but the second house is across the street from a working train that runs 7-9 times per day, so we ruled that one out. However, the first house is awesome! The location is great, the size is perfect, and there aren’t too many updates that are needed (but there are a few, which I am excited for). We’re planning on looking at it again early next week during the day (we first saw it at night) and then we may offer, depending on how that goes!
I completely forgot to bring our wedding stuff to St. Louis when we were there last week. Oops! Before we left, though, we booked our DJ! We’re excited to have another thing checked off the list.
Having a good DJ was really important to Kev and I because we both love to dance and we want our reception to be a giant, awesome party. We met with a few DJs when we were in St. Louis to see our church and venue, but none of them really stood out to us. They were either way too expensive, or completely unorganized (the one person let us into her office and it was a disaster – no thanks). So we looked up a few more online and talked to them over the phone during the past couple of weeks. After looking at numbers and weighing pros/cons, we decided on Elite Pro DJ! They had some awesome reviews and John, the owner, was a pleasure to speak with.
I don’t think that most people go into such depth when choosing a DJ, but like I said, this was really important to both of us, so we took our time with it.
We have some very big things checked off and now I’ve been searching the internet like crazy to find the perfect bridesmaid dresses!
Kev and I booked a 4-day Carnival Bahama cruise out of Port Canaveral with our two best friends Danny and Sara back in April and we counted down the days until December 16!
We flew from St. Louis to Orlando the Saturday before our cruise and started our vacation on the right foot…with beers!
Once we arrived in Orlando, we met up with Danny and Sara before taking a shuttle to our hotel on Cocoa Beach.
The hotel was a POS (a dump, to put it lightly), but we weren’t in the hotel long and was fine for the few rounds of Euchre we played before getting to bed. We woke up bright and early the next day to find alcohol (you can bring your own wine). After a successful trip, we caught another shuttle from the hotel and headed to Port Canaveral!
We made it through security so quickly and before we knew it, we had our Sail & Sign cards and were boarding the ship! The level of excitement at this point was well past a 10.
Once we boarded the ship, we headed straight to the Lido Deck to grab our first (of many) drinks and eat before we could get into our rooms (they were still cleaning the rooms and we were waiting for our luggage to be delivered at this point).
Our port also had Royal Caribbean and Disney ships waiting to depart. And we saw dolphins in the water while we waited!
After getting a good table outside, Sara and I headed to the Mongolian Grill to get lunch.
Seriously, though. We were SO EXCITED!!
After eating, we got a little tour of the ship from Danny and Sara because they had been on a cruise exactly like ours last year and they were familiar with the layout.
Since we embarked on a Sunday, the guys wanted to catch the football scores, so Sara and I checked out some things that were going on that day in our itineraries.
We had connecting rooms with Danny and Sara. Now, can you imagine how much fun we had?
We unpacked and headed upstairs for more food (the amount of food we ate on the ship got a little ridiculous) and watched our ship take off!
The pizza, deli and ice cream were available 24/7. It got dangerous at points.
After we ate, we had plenty of time to go to the safety meeting (which was mandatory) and grab a wonderful seat in the hot tub on the back of the ship’s adult-only area, Serenity, to watch us sail away!
That’s all for now! I’ll be back with more later!
I’m still thoroughly enjoying my time off. Kev and I stayed up late last night going through our Christmas presents and watching The West Wing on Netflix (best show ever!).
I didn’t want to take these gems out of their boxes…I could have just stared all night. 😉
Gracie made out like a champ this Christmas! She got a new mat for her bowls, a new collar, toys, bones, Denta Sticks AND a Dawg-E-Tent! How cute is that?! My dad found it at Home Depot on super sale and I cannot WAIT to set it up! Now all we need is a tent for ourselves…
And after Kevin gets off work today, we’re heading up to Cincinnati to celebrate Christmas with his mom’s side and go to Kirsten and Kevin’s wedding tomorrow night! I can’t wait!
PS Gracie says hi!
