Half Marathon Training {February 8-21} – FINAL WEEKS OF TRAINING!

WE’RE BACK AND WE DID IT! All 13.1 magical miles of Disney World’s Princess Half Marathon are complete! I can’t believe it!

I totally ditched the blog before we left because I came down with a nasty cold/sinus infection the Thursday morning before we left. Yes, THREE days before the run. Needless to say, I freaked out. I called in sick from work that day and slept ALL day long to try to get rid of it. On Friday afternoon, I headed to urgent care to stock up on nasal sprays and some cough medicine. Thankfully, the doctor on call there was understanding and loaded me up. By Friday evening, I was feeling much better and ready for our trip! But then, as soon as we finished packing and started to head to bed, we found out our flight was canceled. AGH! More on all of this later, because I want to recap my final week of training before I talk about the race itself and our trip.

February 10: Taper week was finally here and I was pumped!

February 14: Happy Valentine’s Day to us. We were supposed to do our final long run this day, but we had plans with friends and only had time for two quick miles. (Also, I ran this pretty damn fast. Go me!)

February 17: This was our final long run! My training plan didn’t have me do a long run this week, but I wanted to do at least 4 miles from the advice I got from a few fellow half marathoners. It was on the treadmill because we got a million inches of snow, but it felt great nevertheless!

And then, two days after this run, I got sick. I planned on doing 2 miles on Thursday and 1 mile on Saturday, but I felt like ass on Thursday and by the time we got to Disney World on Saturday, it was practically time for bed. Regardless, the half went GREAT. I can’t wait to tell you about it, but for now, I need to catch up on laundry, time with Gracie Girl and House of Cards. #priorities
