Half Marathon Training {October 26-November 1}

October 27: I was driving home from work on this Monday having the biggest internal debate between running, or sitting on our patio with a beer or two. It was our last warm day until the spring and I really had no motivation to run, but when I mentioned that to my mom when I was chatting with her while sitting in traffic, she said, “OH it’s only 30 minutes! Just got run and then you can have an extra beer.” Moms are always right. This run felt GREAT and the weather was perfect.

And we enjoyed our deck to its fullest extent that night. Instead of beers, we did margaritas and fajitas and ate under the lights. Until next year, backyard!

October 31: The difference between this run and Monday’s run was day and night. I ran in shorts and a t-shirt on Monday and on this run, I wore pants, a jacket, gloves and a headband. ALSO, it was raining! I was so proud of myself for sticking with the whole run because once it started sprinkling, I really tried to convince Kevin to turn around and go home but he knew we’d both feel better if we kept going and he was right.

November 1: Um. This run was my worst run yet. Gracie was being a rotten brat, it was FREEZING (39 degrees – freezing in my book) and I was just not having it. I don’t know what my deal was. We went around the block once and even though I had plans to run for 28 minutes, as soon as I saw our house and Gracie nearly pulled my arm out of its socket chasing a neighbor’s dog for the fifth time, I called it a day. Ya win some, ya lose some.
