March Favorites

Hooray, winter is almost over! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, February is the worst month so I was more than happy to see March. Though we had some nice weather here and there, I’m really glad we’re well on our way to summer. So speaking of March, here are some of my favorites from the month:

This chili recipe

My firm has two chili cookoffs every year: one for Super Bowl and one for NCAA March Madness. The NCAA one is just for white chili, which I like to think is my specialty. I’ve raved about this recipe for years and we make it regularly during the winter months, so I was really excited that it won the blind taste test!

I used to really be into scrapbooking, but I’ve realized lately that ain’t nobody got time for that. I scrapbooked all of high school and most of college (I’d like to finish college…someday), but I realized Shutterfly makes it way easier. I’ve created a “yearbook” for every year since 2011 and include pictures, updates, vacations, our engagement, our wedding, our house projects and more. It really is nice to have hard copies of these memories and although I’d love to create a wedding album (…someday), I love having it in our 2013 “yearbook.” My goal was to finish 2014 before 2016 started but uh, I failed. So my new goal was to work on this in March (hence why it’s in March favorites), but I failed there too. I have some work to do.

Our backyard

We fell in love with our house the moment we stepped onto our deck and saw the beautiful privacy fence and green grass. Well, three years later + an active golden retriever, grass is hardly a thing anymore. We’ve tried growing it ourselves (twice), but there’s too many trees and so much shade. We’re considering alternatives and one of my favorite ideas is a rock garden along the edge of the fence. I’ve been pinning away ideas and we hope to get started on this project soon! In the meantime, we did give our deck a major refresh, which I’ll share details about soon.

All the Ticket Buying

Okay so I’m not sure if this counts for March, but I bought a whoooole lot of show tickets this month. Cage the Elephant is coming in June, Amy Schumer is coming in April, Borns is coming to Indy in July but then I found out that he’s coming here in June and now Haim is coming here in June. Goodbyeeee, moneyyyyyy.
