All day I’ve been thinking about my east coast friends who are battling with Miss Sandy this week! Work has been a little crazy because one of my clients is dealing with major cancellations, which meant I had to cancel my work trip to Virginia and go into the office yesterday for a bit.
I’m so glad I spent my Friday night rescheduling my trip, because my flights would have been completely canceled. To think, I could be stranded in Richmond right now, just four days before we move – ah!!
This storm is seriously crazy though and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and praying for everyone that is affected by it. I just hope everyone stays inside and safe!
Before Sandy was the topic in our household (this is what happens when you’re engaged to a weatherman), Kev and I had a really nice dinner on Saturday night to the local, Tursi’s Latin King restaurant courtesy of a gift card I had to use!
I ordered their Gamberi Diavlo – shrimp sauteed with garlic in a spicy tomato sauce with Linguini.
SPICY IS NOT A JOKE.
I had a really hard time eating this dish and I thoroughly enjoy spicy foods. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but REALLY spicy!
And I brilliantly added pepper to my dish before even trying it. Because it wasn’t spicy enough…
While I was supposed to be flying back to Des Moines tonight, I took the opportunity of an evening at home to get some stuff done for our move. I started with…my closet…
It was dreadful.
First, I pulled out all of my dresses. So, it may look like I have a lot of dresses, but in my defense, the most current dress I have is one I bought in May when I went to New York. I have a dress, LITERALLY, from when I was 15-years-old. It fits still. Sortof.
I seriously do not go shopping anymore…I just don’t have the extra cash anymore that I had in high school from summer jobs and no financial responsibility. Did I mention adulthood sucks a lot?
Then I went through my shoes. I was curious how many pairs of shoes I own and the whopping number?
I feel like that’s so pathetic for a girl (although I’m sure when Kevin discovers I own 30 pairs of shoes is going to think I’m ridiculous).
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some shopping on Zappos to do that I shouldn’t do.
(Please don’t be grossed out by this picture. I put the shoes on our mattress pad, which is currently being washed.)
It was fun to go through my closet to see what clothes I had that forgot about, but it was depressing at the same time because now I realize that I really need to upgrade my wardrobe (starting with a new pair of tennis shoes ASAP!).
This was also helpful for my Christmas/birthday “wish” list – hello gift cards!
I also went through some clothes that no longer fit and put them in a Goodwill pile. I hope someone gets great use out what I no longer need/want!
Anyways – enough about my closet! Some of you may notice different things on my blog. I’ll be messing with some settings and changing a few things for a little while, so don’t be surprised if you see a few changes/additions!
In the meantime, I’ll be continuously thinking and praying for east coast people – the storm looks incredibly bad and dangerous and I hope everyone stays safe inside!
*Please don’t think I’m complaining about the clothes that I am fortunate enough to have. I am incredibly thankful and grateful for a closet full of clothes to keep me warm and covered. I’m simply on the path to discover my own style/taste for the first time and I felt like going through my closet and showing it on my blog was a good start.
