Napa Valley Trip

Part two of our San Fran trip coming right up!

We woke up early on Sunday morning after a late night out. Mine and Kevin’s schedules were all messed up because we were still on eastern time so even though it was 9 a.m., it felt like lunch to us so we got sandwiches and salad for breakfast.

And macaroons, of course!

IMG_4122 Peter and Ali dropped us off to pick up our rental car and we headed north via the Golden Gate Bridge! It was so fun to cross it, especially with all the fog.

IMG_0714 After a lot of traffic and a cracked iPhone, we walked into our winery tour about 15 minutes late. Thankfully they didn’t seem to mind too much and let us catch up with the group.

Kevin’s cousin, Brian, is a member at Jarvis Winery, a family-owned amazing winery seated at the most breathtaking spot in California. It was probably one of the nicest places we’ve ever been. Thanks again for the passes, Brian!

The tour group small, which allowed us to ask our tour guide a lot of great questions. After walking through the cool caves, it was time for our tasting!

IMG_0717 We got to taste seven different wines, and they gave us some cheese and crackers as a palate cleanser.

IMG_0721 Surprisingly, the cheapest bottle of wine ($50 for reference) was my favorite. Kevin was worried I’d really like the $1,700 bottle. šŸ˜‰

IMG_0722 IMG_4168Pictures just don’t do the grounds justice.

IMG_0724 Immediately after the winery, Kevin and I said our goodbyes to Peter and Ali before we headed to check into our hotel just down the road. We had to get ready in a hurry because we had a wedding to attend!

IMG_4126 Jeannie and I were in the same sorority and Brett and I lived in the same building freshman year so it’s safe to say I’ve known these two for awhile. The whole ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and I especially loved their vows, which included a Friends reference!

IMG_4130 Jeannie looked AH-MAZING and Brett had a smile on his face the entire evening. Did I mention I love weddings?

IMG_4134 But seriously, look at this setting!

IMG_4136 Pretty soon it was time for cocktail hour and dinner!

IMG_4137I thought it was cute that they named all of their tables after their favorite beers.

IMG_4138 Introducing the new, Mr. & Mrs!

IMG_4140 The food? Wow, delicious. (Yes, double fisting happened. When in Napa!)

IMG_4141 IMG_0725It was so great seeing some of our friends, especially these two lovely bridesmaids!

IMG_0727 IMG_4167 IMG_4157 I just love being back with some of my sisters!

IMG_4165 We stayed up entirely too late for having to leave the next morning at 8:30 a.m. to catch our flight, but it was totally worth it!

Our travels home were not so fun, which included our first flight being delayed because of a flat tire on the landing gear. At least there were movies on the plane! This flight was definitely the biggest we’ve ever been on – a 777 – which was a nice change of pace from the little 44 seaters we always wind up with when flying locally.

We thought we’d have to run to our connection in O’Hare, but we showed up to find out our flight was delayed three hours. So what do two young, hungry and tired travels do? Find the nearest bar! Thankfully we got there right before they closed!

IMG_4170We were supposed to get to Louisville around midnight, but we didn’t get home until a little after 5 a.m. MY GOODNESS, we were tired, but it was SO worth the trip!

Congrats again, Jeannie and Brett!! šŸ™‚
