NYC with Katie – Part I

It’s obvious that I am utterly obsessed with New York City and think it’s one of the most fantastic places on earth. I mean, the last time I visited, it took me nearly five different posts to cover three days I spent in the city. I won’t drag it out that long this time, but I can’t help but write about how much it was.

I arrived in NYC just before lunch on Thursday and met my maid of honor and bestest of friends, Miss Katie Schur for a few days of galavanting around the city. We checked into our hotel and ventured down to Lower Manhattan to visit the 9/11 Memorial. But before heading into the site, we were starting to get hangry (hungry + angry), so we grabbed some slices of pizza before going in the Memorial. Enough for two girls? We thought so too.

IMG_2376The Memorial was just as beautiful and touching as the last time I visited.

IMG_2381 Katie + I in a big city = many wrong turns when walking, but we somehow ended up at the New York Stock Exchange by accident. Not a bad thing to see!

IMG_2382 IMG_2383By our third day in the city, Katie and I became pros at navigating the subway system (we are both obsessed with public transportation).

After a quick ride to the other side of the island, we were at the Brooklyn Bridge! This is something I’ve always wanted to see and Katie’s always walked to walk across it. Two bucket list items are done!

We were almost blown off the bridge thanks to the wind and rain/snow mix so we called it good and headed to “the village” so Katie could see the Friends building! She’s as big of a Friends fan as the rest of us and was so giddy to see it.

IMG_2393 IMG_2397 IMG_2399 While doing some window shopping, Katie and I quickly discovered that Carrie Bradshaw’s Sex and the City apartment stoop was right around the corner from where we were. How did we not realize this before?!

IMG_2401 So so so so SOOOOO adorable.

IMG_2404 The house is currently occupied, and the owners left a cute little note that said that they appreciate if the people who take pictures would leave a small donation to a local animal shelter. (I’d like to believe that the people living in this wonderful house do not need the quarters we put in, and really donated it to an animal shelter.)

IMG_2405 IMG_2406 I want them all.

IMG_2407 Any of ’em.

IMG_2408Leave it up to Katie to find a legitimate German beer hall (where everyone inside speaks German) that had $5 half liter happy hour. Sold and sold!

After a couple hefeweizens, we walked around the corner to the BEST BURGER EVER! That’s right…it did’t take much convincing to get Katie to dine at Daddy-O’s with me for the best burger of her life. She agreed with me.

IMG_2409 IMG_2410 We enjoyed a few more beers and people watching before heading back to our hotel to crash for the night.
