Yesterday I did something amazing….
I got a facial.
For the first time.
And it was amazing.
You see, I bought a Groupon for a facial a long time ago and with vacation coming up in six short days, I figured what better time to use it!?
I paid $25 for a $60, 60 minute “beauty” facial, which is “100 percent customized to your skin.” Good, because I have wacky skin.
I expected to walk into a dermatologist-like room and have them scrub away on my pores, but I actually walked into heaven.
She dimmed the lights, spoke softly, asked me what my skin concerns were and played spa-like music. It. was. heaven.
And then 60 minutes came and went like that.
Did I love it? YES. Would I go again? If I had another Groupon, YES, but I wouldn’t pay full price.
After my facial, I did some more cleaning. In just a few short hours, I knocked out a few loads of laundry, cleaned and reorganized all the drawers/cabinets in our bathroom, organized our desk and cleaned off our bookshelf. It all looks amazing. Today I’ll brave the kitchen and carpets…saving the worst for last. Woo hoo for productivity!
I also cleaned off our “bar” area and beautifully displayed all of our wonderful engagement cards. I read them every day, so thank you to everyone who sent them! 🙂
Speaking of engagement, I forgot to mention the wonderful gift my parents gave us when they were here a couple weekends ago! It was sort of a joke, in response to my blog post from awhile ago on getting old, but we absolutely love it.
And….STEMLESS WINE GLASSES!
How cute are my parents? Apparently my dad had a hootin’ good time in Pier 1 picking out the pillows.
Also thank you to Katie for the lovely bottle of wine, wedding magazine, sticky notes and candles AND thank you to Danny and Sara for the margarita mix. You know us too well.
Speaking of the wine, Kev and I broke that bad boy open last week when we began to set up a wedding website. We didn’t get very far, but that’s alright. No rush. We had fun drinking the wine.
And with that wine, we had THIS.
AND IT WAS SO GOOD. It’s the only picture I took, but the recipe is below.
Shrimp and Tomato White Wine Linguine
- 1 box linguine
- 1 lb. medium/large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 tomato
- 1/3 cup white wine
- 1 lemon
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 tsp. EVOO
- Parsley (for sprinkling on top)
- Parmesan cheese (for sprinkling on top)
- Peel and devein shrimp. Pat dry and sprinkle red pepper flakes, 1 tsp. of lemon juice, zest of whole lemon. Set aside.
- Boil 1 box of linguine.
- Meanwhile, add EVOO, garlic to pan. Chop tomatoes in chunks and add to pan.
- When linguine is almost done, reserve 1/2 cup of boiled water. Set aside.
- Add shrimp to pan with tomatoes. Add wine.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, until shrimp are pink.
- Add linguine and 1/2 cup of boiled water. Mix together.
- Top with parsley and cheese.
- Chow down!
