The New Ride

So many things to talk about, so little time!

So, as many of you know, I’ve driven the same car since I was 16. My parents bought me a 1999 Chevy Cavalier that we all assumed would get me through high school. Well, then it got me through college. And a move to Des Moines. And a move to Louisville. Ten years later, my good ole gold car has gotten me through countless volleyball and soccer practices and games, numerous summer jobs, a couple of boyfriends, Taking Back Sunday and Dashboard Confessional late-night jam sessions, hundreds of trips home to St. Louis and roughly three hubcaps.

It’s been so good to me, but we were ready for an upgrade. Enter…our new Santa Fe Sport! (I promise that despite what this picture below looks like, I did not buy another gold car. It’s grey, with some brown undertones.)

We shopped around a LOT. We went to the auto show back in January and test drove a handful of different times. We talked to family and friends who had bought cars and read way too many reviews for our own good. In the end, the Santa Fe Sport was the best fit for our family and we’re so happy with it!

We purchased the car from a dealer in Cincinnati because frankly, they were able to give us the best deal. We loved working with them! I mean, when they buy you donuts to sign car papers, they get an A+ in my book.

I haven’t quite decided on a name yet. My cavalier never got a name, but I definitely want to name this one. I am trying to decide if I want to give up hope on my future child’s name and name my car Jack (Kevin hates the name Jack so I have a feeling this may be my only opportunity to name something my favorite name ever), or name it Christian (because it’s a grey car. Ha!).

I’m still learning everything about the car, but my favorite feature, by far, is the sunroof. It take up the whole roof! It’s amazing.

The inside is pretty nifty too. It has a push-button start, so I never have to get my keys out of my purse or pocket. I just have to be near the car and it unlocks and starts. Fancy schmancy.

The back-up camera is already my best friend. I’ll never be able to survive without one now! And although I didn’t think I’d use the navigation very much, I’ve used it a ton already. It’s nice to have it right there, through my speakers, without having to look at Google maps on my phone all the time.

So there ya have it! Our new baby (might as well be a baby. #expensive).
